J.FitzPatrick shoes have a broad set of fit options, from true to size, on the slim side to more wide. It will be important to make sure you read about the specific last that you are looking to purchase.
One thing to note across the board is that our loafers have been cut on the snug side, compared to the rest of the models. We did this so that you do not need to 'size down' when going for a loafer, rather recommending you stick to your oxford size (**read exception below)
Here are a few general rules
- Our insteps would be considered generous
- All shoes with 6 eyelets will be even more generous in the instep
- Any model in full suede will feel more generous to its leather counterpart
- The boots have a forgiving instep in order for you to put them on easily
- Any monkstrap made on the MGF or LPB will feel more generous to its oxford counterpart
- If you wear your oxfords very snug, then size up for your loafers. However, for most we recommend taking the same size as your oxfords

Buy these shoes today if you want to have fun and feel stylish - you won't regret it!
If you’ve already bought shoes here, you already know how nice and easy the buying experience is and can skip this paragraph. But if not, let me tell you that as a first-time customer and someone who had only just learned what Goodyear welted shoes were a few months before, I really appreciated the great service. Justin helped guide me towards lasts that would work with my feet, and his reasonable exchange/return policies gave me the confidence to “just take a chance” and place the order. I had questions about fit and care after they arrived, and he answered all those - even recommending some great socks that not only look and feel good but, because they are thinner, give me that extra bit of room I needed when breaking the shoes in. I felt that I was really in good hands.
In terms of style, the shoes were an instant hit, putting a smile on everyone’s faces. I like strong colors but before now my footwear has been limited to conventional colors and mostly slip-on styles. I never was fond of tassels - in fact, I opposed them! - but when I saw these teal-and-black blue suede shoes I was wowed. Since I was already “taking a chance” buying shoes online, I thought, why not go all the way and really make a statement? I am so glad I did. Out of the box, they were so gorgeous that I said, “If these don’t fit my feet, I’m going to keep them anyway and just tape them to my legs!” Luckily I didn’t have to do that! My family loved them and when I posted a picture of me wearing them online a pal wrote, “Blue suede shoes? That’s legit!” Ha!
I have been surprised how versatile a pair of blue shoes could be. I wear the shoes with khaki, brown, grey, and navy pants - they look good with all those. This color would work for a chukka and I think the ocean suede loafers, which weren’t available at the time, would be a more casual and summery look that likewise goes with a lot of outfits.
As for fit, I’m sure that will depend on your feet. For me they fit a bit snugly (better that than slipping!), and there was some bite in the top back of the heel, I think along where the lacing is. I got some blisters that first week, so took to putting on a bandaid - my friend since suggested other tricks to help with that. But that didn’t last long. Now that I have broken them in, they fit nicely and are comfortable to wear.
So far I’ve been impressed with the quality. The sole has held up on walks around my neighborhood which includes some rough pavement and even gravel. I’m glad Justin has those nails at the toe - a different company’s shoes didn’t have them and on their shoes the thin leather layer over the stitching became a flap on the first day! If I were a shoe person I’d probably be able to point out other smart design moves but that’s the only one I experienced.
I bought the red shoe trees and they not only fit nicely but look good too - just like in his pictures!
All in all I’ve been really pleased with these shoes, and the David boots which I bought at the same time and were even better in terms of fitting immediately, requiring very little break-in, and feeling softer to the touch. Great style, great design, great service - the whole package!
