J.FitzPatrick shoes have a broad set of fit options, from true to size, on the slim side to more wide. It will be important to make sure you read about the specific last that you are looking to purchase.
One thing to note across the board is that our loafers have been cut on the snug side, compared to the rest of the models. We did this so that you do not need to 'size down' when going for a loafer, rather recommending you stick to your oxford size (**read exception below)
Here are a few general rules
- Our insteps would be considered generous
- All shoes with 6 eyelets will be even more generous in the instep
- Any model in full suede will feel more generous to its leather counterpart
- The boots have a forgiving instep in order for you to put them on easily
- Any monkstrap made on the MGF or LPB will feel more generous to its oxford counterpart
- If you wear your oxfords very snug, then size up for your loafers. However, for most we recommend taking the same size as your oxfords

I love these boots! I ordered them before they were released and even though I see they are on sale now, I have no regrets: They are lovely at regular prices and an ABSOLUTE STEAL at sale prices!
Before buying I was worried the strap would be too fussy for my style. I like flair in color and fine materials, but we're a "shoes off in the house" family and I wore loafers almost exclusively for two decades: The idea of having another step AFTER lacing my shoe was a mental barrier! I also don't have a slim build so I thought having extra "volume" at my feet might be less of a help than a sleeker, narrower design. BUT THE BOOTS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL. I kept coming back to the site to look at them until I just gave in and said, Quit being ridiculous, buy the boots! So glad I did!
The leather is very soft and comfortable. My feet are on the wide side, so I found them initially snug-fitting but they soon broke in and are now a pleasure to wear. The double commando soles make these great in all terrains, and I think they enhance the overall look - you have the style, but then the ruggedness. The cognac color is a brightish orangey-reddish-brown. I like the pop and wanted it in my collection, but if you are looking for a quieter statement I'd recommend the chestnut. As for the strap - if you hesitate like I did, let me reassure you that you will like them. The strap is easy to secure - I can put them on or take them off without looking just by feel, which is nice because I'd rather not have to bend over - especially if I just ate a big meal, lol! And they only make as much of an impact on your outfit as you like: If you wear your pants at a typical length, the strap is mostly covered - just a hint shows. But if you want to feature them, cuff your pants higher: voila!
Don't miss out, pick up these boots! You'll be so glad you did.
Very pleased w/this item.
It has been over 10 years since I have purchase casual boots, but after looking at these boots, I had to have a pair, simply fantastic footwear!
