what the style is:

Single Monkstrap

Monkstraps are identified by their strap buckle closures, usually made up of one or two -- but possibly more -- straps that keep each shoe secure. A single monkstrap is the most reserved version of the style, with its minimal metal hardware minimizing flash, and its single strap closure creating a more sleek silhouette.

what it's lasted on:

LPB Last

The LPB is our soft chisel last. It is a softened variant of the classic MGF chisel last, with the smoother lines of LPB offering a more conservative and versatile profile.
The LPB is a generous fitting last, making it a good choice for those with broad feet.
-Generous all-around fit
-Voluminous instep
-Labeled as UK 'E' width (US 'D' equivalent). However, being generous it is closer to a US D/E fit, falling between the two.
-Elongated last shape

what you'll be standing on:

Commando Sole

Lug "commando" soles give this monkstrap an exceptionally hardy feel: Note that the sole's ridges are not limited to its interior, but extend all the way to the sole's edge, for a subtler look without compromising function.

size guidance

The Martel, on the LPB Last, is a generous and elongated fitting single monk. It is quite voluminous through the mid-forefoot. The pattern of the Martel, coupled with the chisel last, gives a generous instep and elongated toe box. If you wear slender lasts, you will wish to size down. If you wear more generous fitting lasts, often found in Italian brands or on other chisel lasts, stick with your typical size. If you are a standard fit, it will be up to you to decide if you prefer a little more room or a snugger fit. If more room, stick to the same size, if more snug, size down.
