Note From The Founder

The inspiration behind the Fremont was simply to make the smartest derby I could. I always felt that derbies were too casual and wanted to make the sleekest possible model for suit wear. My approach involved a unique design for the line extending down the quarter and up around the lacing. I aimed for a sense of fluidity, intentionally moving away from the conventional lines commonly found in other derby designs.

To further highlight the distinctive "Only at J.FitzPatrick" concept, I chose our Marble Patina finish. This adds a final touch that gives the Fremont a truly unique aesthetic, one that you won't find elsewhere.

Two Eyelet Derby

Strikingly European in style, two eyelet derbies are a dressier alternative to the classic casual four or five eyelet American derby. The result is a shoe with a casual origin, which can ultimately hold its own when paired with fine tailoring.

LPB Last

The LPB is our soft chisel last. It is a softened variant of the classic MGF chisel last, with the smoother lines of LPB offering a more conservative and versatile profile.
The LPB is a generous fitting last, making it a good choice for those with broad feet.

-Voluminous instep
-Labeled as UK 'E' width (US 'D' equivalent). However, being generous it is closer to a US D/E fit, falling between the two.

Leather Sole (Closed Channel)

Single leather soles are our most handsome sole option. A subtle profile combines with tastefully pitched heels, beveled waists, and closed-channel stitching to ensure an elegant look, while seven brass nails in the toe improve longevity.

Size Guidance

The Fremont, on the LPB Last, is a generous and elongated-fitting dress derby. The derby style coupled with the chisel last gives a generous instep and elongated toe box. If you wear slender lasts, you will wish to size down. If you wear more generous fitting lasts, often found by Italian brands or on other chisel lasts, stick with your typical size. If you are a standard fit, it will be up to you to decide if you prefer a little more room or a snugger fit. If more room, stick to the same size, if more snug, size down.
