the style:

Floating Apron Wholecut Oxford

The Whittier is a wholecut oxford, featuring pseudo aprons and heel counters: These hand-stitched details never actually connect with the edges of the shoe, but instead "float." The result is a unique design that does not compromise the underlying wholecut pattern of this oxford.

what it's lasted on:

LPB Last

The LPB is our soft chisel last. It is a softened variant of the classic MGF chisel last, with the smoother lines of LPB offering a more conservative and versatile profile.
The LPB is a generous fitting last, making it a good choice for those with broad feet.
-Generous all-around fit
-Voluminous instep
-Labeled as UK 'E' width (US 'D' equivalent). However, being generous it is closer to a US D/E fit, falling between the two.
-Elongated last shape

what you'll be standing on:

Leather Sole (Closed Channel)

Double leather soles give this style a robust look and feel, while remaining supremely comfortable. Tastefully pitched heels, beveled waists, and closed-channel stitching all ensure an elegant look, while seven brass nails in the toe improve longevity.

Size Guidance

The Whittier, on the LPB Last, is a generous and elongated fitting oxford. If you wear slender lasts, you will wish to size down. If you wear more generous fitting lasts, often found in Italian brands or on other chisel lasts, stick with your typical size. If you are a standard fit, it will be up to you to decide if you prefer a little more room or a snugger fit. If more room, stick to the same size, if more snug, size down.

This has a generous forefoot.

Length: Elongated
Width: Generous
Instep: High
Toe Box: Voluminous

Question

I'm going to make a purchase, for my wedding and of course another pair for date nights. I'd like to know if these single layer leather soles will make the clacking noise when I walk? I'm very familiar with the traditional dress shoes, I'm simply asking cause mine are all leather with no rubber at all. Justin you have beautiful shoes and I'm looking forward to buying some from you!!

Glad I made the choice

I have watched the review by Justin, went through all of them, made changes to my buying practice, then I purchased one of his shoe. They are what I hoped for coming from him, great quality and fit. I have no complaints so I just purchased another pair. Thanks

Shoe sole disintegrated on second wearing

This is the most expensive pair of shoes I've ever owned and expected them to last. However the soles delaminated and started to disintegrate on the second wearing (my wedding). I did not wear them in the rain or in an otherwise out of the ordinary fashion. Beautiful shoes, but look elsewhere than J Fitzpatrick if you want special shoes that will be with you for a long time. These are garbage.

A sole channel being exposed or the thin leather covering the channel stitch breaking from a rock or other is nowhere near 'disintegration' which is impossible on a 2 nd wear especially on a double leather sole. Jyat a little fyi. Sorry that it caused you panic and this misguided review but the shoe is intact. The channel leather simply broke and can happen on the best of them.
