Note From The Founder

The David is our take on the typical Oxford-style boot. To be completely transparent, I didn't add any particularly novel elements to it, but rather aimed to recreate a look and feel as close to the Victorian style as possible. The touch of differentiation comes from the addition of our signature Fleur de Lys medallion.

Intending for this to be a "suit-wearing boot," I crafted it in a classic black leather and suede combination, with a sharp chisel last for an ultimately sleek appearance.

However, as I also enjoy wearing dress boots with denim, I included some brogueing to make it slightly less formal. Additionally, I constructed it with a double leather sole, further allowing for a more casual look if desired.

Oxford Boots

Identifiable by their closed-lace design, oxford boots are a dressier alternative to the common open-lace "derby" boot. The David sports a toe medallion and brogueing throughout, for a subtly textured but ultimately formal effect.

MGF Last

The MGF is our chisel last. A chisel toe is the shape of choice for smart shoes, with its sharp lines resulting in an unrivaled professional and elegant style.
The MGF is our most generous fitting last, ideal for broad feet:
-Generous all-around fit
-Voluminous instep
-Labeled as UK 'E' width (US 'D' equivalent). However, being generous it is closer to a US D/E fit, falling between the two.
-Elongated last shape

Leather Sole (Closed Channel)

Double leather soles give this style a robust look and feel, while remaining supremely comfortable. Tastefully pitched heels, beveled waists, and closed-channel stitching all ensure an elegant look, while seven brass nails in the toe improve longevity.

size guidance

The David, on our MGF Last, is a generous and elongated-fitting boot. If you have a slender foot with a lower instep, take a half size down from your usual size. For those with normal to broader feet, stick with your usual size. You will find a generous fit from the mid-foot to the forefoot.

Beautiful well made boots

As usual, J Fitzpatrick hit it out of the park with these boots. They look sharp and are very well made. Looking forward to many years of use.

I have been following this outfit for many years, these boots are extremely high quality and the invisible stitching is a cherry on top. I also called for recommendation on a cobbler near my location to get toe taps and sole protection placed later and Justin was able to help and actually knows the guy personally.

David - Elegant, Versatile and Comfortable

I purchased a pair of the DAVID - BLACK CALF / BLACK SUEDE boots in NOV 2020 (UK12/US13.) I've worn them several times so far, always with a charcoal flannel suit, (with which I think they look very elegant,) though when I originally tried them on they were paired with grey jeans and I was sold immediately. The fact that they look equally harmonious with either a suit or jeans, (i.e. dressed up or down,) speaks to their versatility, though admittedly my taste is fairly conservative. At the end of a day of wearing them I don't want to take them off even though I'm usually on my feet most of the day; that gives an idea how comfortable the footbed is. I was also pleasantly surprised by the supple, quality leather used in the uppers which adds to the comfort and makes these easy to break in...and I have wide feet. I find the MGF last to be very elegant and I simply enjoy wearing these boots. As an aside, having visited the store, I can say that the pictures don't do any of the shoes justice as they look much better in person; capturing dimension is very challenging in a two-dimensional image.
