what the style is:

Austerity Brogue Oxford

Austerity brogues are identified by their wingtip design bereft of any brogueing: The result is a playful but sleek alternative to the more casual "full brogue" style. Pulling back from maximum austerity, our "Pullman" oxford sports triple-stitched detailing throughout.

what it's lasted on:

LPB Last

The LPB is our soft chisel last. It is a softened variant of the classic MGF chisel last, with the smoother lines of LPB offering a more conservative and versatile profile.
The LPB is a generous fitting last, making it a good choice for those with broad feet.
-Generous all-around fit
-Voluminous instep
-Labeled as UK 'E' width (US 'D' equivalent). However, being generous it is closer to a US D/E fit, falling between the two.
-Elongated last shape

what you'll be standing on:

Leather Sole (Closed Channel)

Single leather soles are our most handsome sole option. A subtle profile combines with tastefully pitched heels, beveled waists, and closed-channel stitching to ensure an elegant look, while seven brass nails in the toe improve longevity.

size guidance

The Pullman, on the LPB Last, is a generous and elongated fitting oxford. If you wear slender lasts, you will wish to size down. If you wear more generous fitting lasts, often found in Italian brands or on other chisel lasts, stick with your typical size. If you are a standard fit, it will be up to you to decide if you prefer a little more room or a snugger fit. If more room, stick to the same size, if more snug, size down.

Most people stick to their standard size.

Length: Elongated
Width: Generous
Instep: High
Toe Box: Voluminous
Last shape: Soft chisel

Elegant Soft Chisel Last

I actually bought the Pullman in black calf before the color was discontinued. This was my first pair of JFitzpatricks and I was concerned about fit due to my extremely wide feet. Just as the last description states, these shoes fit between a US D and E and have a generous instep. They fit perfectly. Despite accommodating my wide foot, the shoes are strikingly elegant. I can’t recommend them enough.

Looks Darker in Real Life, But a Nice Shoe

I've got the Martel, also in burgundy and on the same last. It's a wonderful shoe with a great fit. Two things on the Pullman were noticeably different: In the same light, the color is darker than on the Martel -- a deep burgundy. The toe is a little sharper and pointier, too. (I generally prefer an almond toe, which the Martel is closer to even with the same last.)

Neither one is a deal breaker, though I was really drawn to the cherry red color in product pics and video reviews. That said, I took some pics with the flash, and they definitely show a lighter color than the naked eye sees. I'm guessing when it stops being overcast here, I'll see reddish highlights better outside, too.

Construction-wise, this is another winner. The triple stitching is even, and I found no obvious flaws. Plus, the Pullman has a pitched heel while many other shoes in this price range do not. Fit is good with no heel slip, though right now it's a little tighter up front. I liked the Pullman enough I caved and got another pair in black.

Like all JFitz shoes I've purchased, these are very high quality, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Well worth the money, get your order early if you're a larger size (I'm a 13), these get gobbled up fast.
